Abstract

976,828. Load-break disconnecting switches. S. & C. ELECTRIC CO. Dec. 14, 1962, No. 47240/62. Heading H2B. The load-break disconnecting switch of Specifications 898,462 and 898,463 is modified by the provision of a centre-break isolator having a pair of switch arms 53 each rotatably mounted at one end. One or two interrupter units 47 may be provided. One arm 53 has a contact plate 85 which co-operates with contact fingers 86 in a sleet hood 87 on the other arm 53. Arcuate aluminium corona shields 88, 89 and 92, 93 are provided on the arms. Stainless steel contact fingers 96, 97 on one arm co-operate with the corona shield 92 on the other arm, the fingers and shield acting as arcing contacts. Stops, which may be mounted on a torsion bar, are provided to limit the opening and closing movements of the arms 53. Specification 966,110 and U.S.A. Specification 2,796,478 also are referred to.
