Abstract
975,160. Varifocal objectives. P. ANGENIEUX. March 29,1963 [June 23,1962; Nov. 22, 1962], No. 12499/63. Heading G2J. The convergent front member of the objective has a convergent rear part and a divergent front part, the latter being axially movable for focusing. Preferably the objective is of the type having a convergent front member C1, a movable divergent member C2, a movable convergent member C3 and a fixed convergent rear member C4. In this objective the divergent part of the front member is made up of three elements 21, 22 and 23, element 22 being a convergent meniscus of which the front surface has a radius of curvature less than the focal length f of the divergent part but greater than 0.40f. This meniscus in a second embodiment forms the rear element of the divergent part of the front member and, in a further embodiment, it is embraced by two divergent elements at the front and another divergent element at the rear. Optical data are given for three examples, one being of an objective as shown.
