961,593. Seed sowing machines. ERNEST A. WEBB Ltd., and R. J. BARKER. Aug. 8, 1962 [May 8, 1961], No. 16738/61. Heading A1D. A seed sowing appliance comprising a seed storage chamber Q from which seeds are supplied to a selector wheel D provided with seed pockets K, a deflector wheel C and a guide wall M 2 extending from the deflector wheel to a seed discharge shoot J, is characterized in that a depth control plate B is located in a peripheral groove S passing through the seed pockets and extends below the storage chamber Q so that the depth of the seed pockets opening into the storage chamber is less than the depth of the pockets adjacent the guide. The pockets K are formed in flats M on the wheel D and an ejector plate E is located in the groove S adjacent the discharge shoot J. The deflector wheel C has a tyre A with diamond-shaped tread to facilitate removing excess seed from the wheel D, the tyre bridging a groove C 2 formed in the periphery of the wheel. The wall V of the storage chamber Q is formed by a spring blade in contact with the deflector wheel. Specification 907,004 is referred to.
