960,935. Clamping ties. G. K. MURRAY. Jan. 31, 1963 [Feb. 15, 1962], No. 5773/62. Heading F2G. A charging tie S for use in securing a luggage rack LR on the roof of a road vehicle comprises an upper end 1 and a lower end 2 for engagement with the rack LR and road vehicle respectively and a manually-actuable contractile part 3 which moves the ends towards or away from each other, the lower end being formed with an integral or attached tongue 8. In the construction shown, the lower end consists of two parts 2a, 2b, the latter pivoted about the former. The part 2b includes a hook portion 5 which co-operates with the rain gulley 7 on the vehicle body, the tongue 8 overlying the gulley to prevent the tie being unintentionally detached therefrom. The tongue may be stamped out of or, if a separate part, be spot-welded to, the hook portion of the lower end. A rubber or other buffer 9 may be carried by the part 2b.
