Abstract

969,825. Valves; dashpots. G. WEISHEIT. Oct.13, 1962, No. 38846/62. Headings F25 and F2V. An electro-magnetically actuated valve has the valve spindle and armature connected to a rod 13 of a dashpot which comprises a piston or diaphragm 12 which divides a chamber 10 into two compartments 10a, 10b connected by a passage 16 containing an adjustable throttle valve 18. The rod 13 extends at either end of the chamber 10 through chambers 20, 21, preferably connected by a passage 22, these chambers being filled with damping fluid, such as oil, whereby movement of the rod 13 in either direction does not draw air into the chamber 10. Seals 24 are provided for the rod. A spring 9 is provided for the return movement of the valve when the solenoid is de-energized.
