To -promote efficient combustion of the fuelair mixture in a rotary-piston fuel injection, Diesel engine trochoidal type having a threesided piston planatary rotatable in a twoarched, trochoidally profiled working chamber, each working surface 11, Fig. 1, of the piston 12 is fitted with a vaporizing plate 13, which, except for restricted bearing surfaces for fixing screws 14, stands proud of a recess 11<SP>11</SP> in a trough-shaped depression 11<SP>1</SP> forming in part the combustion chamber. These bearing surfaces may be formed on the plate or as separate strips or washers of thermally insulating material. The plate 13 heated by the combustion is at considerably higher temperature than the internally water-cooled piston and consequently permits quicker vaporization of the fuel incident upon it. More than one plate may be provided on each piston surface. Serrations on the outer surface of each plate may be provided extending in the direction of rotation of the piston to still further improve combustion.
