Abstract
964,095. Safety harness for vehicles, L. G. BERGMAN. Dec. 22, 1960, No. 44075/60. Heading A3V. In a safety harness comprising a waist band or chest band 4 having its free ends connected together at the front of the wearer by a quick-release clasp 11, an intermediate part of the band 4 extends through a friction buckle 10 at the back of the wearer to form a loop 6 for attachment to a vehicle. The loop 6 is attached by a fitting 7 at a point 8 behind the back rest 9 of the rear seat 3. The attachment fitting 7 is extensible and non- resilient and comprises sinuous or spiral convolutions which will open progressively if the vehicle is subjected to violent deceleration. The harness includes shoulder straps 5 formed by a single length of material secured to the front ends of the band 4 and passing through a slot 17 in the buckle 10. Specification 964,096 is referred to.
