Abstract

952,860. Internal shoe-drum brakes. AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS CO. Ltd. Dec. 18, 1961 [Dec. 29, 1960], No. 44639/60. Heading F2E. In a wedge and roller expanding mechanism for an internal shoe-drum brake the rollers are mounted in a cage unit 3 carried by an actuating member 2 each roller 4 having bearing portions 6 at its opposite ends for location in slots 7 in the cage. The cage unit 3 is secured to the end of a plunger 2 forming the actuating member by a rivet 10 and is prevented from swinging about the rivet by means of a locating spigot 11 on the plunger 2 which is located in a hole in the closed end 8 of the cage. The rollers 4 act on inclined surface 9 of the plunger 2 and the inclined surfaces 14 on the tappets 12 which are adapted to actuate the brake shoes (not shown).
