Abstract

958,276. Fluid-blast switches. LICENTIA PATENT-VERWALTUNGS G.m.b.H. April 7, 1961 [April 8, 1960 (2); April 19, 1960; Dec. 28, 1960], No. 12595/61. Addition to 950,858. Heading H2B. The tubular shield 4 of the fluid-blast switch of the parent Specification is mounted on a piston 4a to which fluid pressure is applied when the switch is closed so as to move the shield out of the fixed contact 2 before the moving contact 3 is brought into engagement with the fixed contact. In other arrangements the shield is of insulating material with a conducting insert to assist arc transfer, Fig. 3 (not shown), or is of metal and provided with arcing horns 5 5 (not shown), or is fixed with the switch constructed so that the " fixed " contact moves behind the shield, Fig. 1 (not shown).
