Abstract

943,382. Air filters. PARKS-CRAMER (GREAT BRITAIN) Ltd. July 25, 1962 [Aug. 1, 1961 ; July 2, 1962 (2)], No. 28642/62. Heading BIT. [Also in Divisions D1 and F1] Cleaning of a rotating filter element 141, Fig. 4, upstream of the suction inlet 103 of a travelling blower B, Fig. 1, serving to blow lint deposited on the frames of a row of spinning machines is effected by a stationary suction nozzle 145 adjacent the upstream face of the filter element 141. Cleaning is assisted by a brush 155, Fig. 5 (not shown), extending across the elongated mouth of the nozzle which in turn extends across the radial width of the filter element which is of annular form and is constructed of perforated stainless steel. The element 141 extends between and is secured to an upper fan housing 70 and a canopy 130 thereof and the assembly carries a pulley 95 driven through a belt 110, a pulley 111 on a vertical shaft connected by bevel gearing to a shaft 125 connected to one of the carriage rollers 52 driven by the blower motor 50. The suction nozzle 145 is connected by a flexible conduit 150 to the suction casing 30 of a travelling suction cleaner A serving to clean the floor F and connected to the blower B by rigid links 54, 55. The cleaner A discharges lint-laden air into a filter chamber 23 and from thence clean air passes to atmosphere. In a modification the rotating filter screen 291, Fig, 10, is of annular frustro conical form and the suction cleaning nozzle 325 which is flanked by flexible wiper blades, only one 335 of which is shown, is opposed by a blowing nozzle 345 on the downstream side of the screen 291 and supplied with air from the fan 262 through an L-shaped duct 348. In a further modification the rotating filter 480, Fig. 18, forms the base of a fan housing 410 which is driven by friction rollers 492, 493 connected by gearing to a motor 430 which drives a carriage 413 along a track 412. The filter cleaning suction nozzle 511 is connected by a rigid conduit 512 to the inlet 513 of a fan 470 driven by a motor 472 which also drives fan 475 and fan 470 discharges into a dust bag 460, Fig. 14 (not shown). Specification 852,765 is referred to.
