943,319. Impact pulverizers. J. M. J. INDUSTRIES Ltd. March 12, 1962, No. 9448/62. Heading B2A. A disintegrating mill comprises a pair of spaced rotors 50, 51, Fig. 4, each having pairs of radially-spaced annular rows of impact members 55, 57 or 65, 67 projecting from it towards the other rotor, with the rows of one rotor alternating with the rows of the other rotor and each impact member consisting of a mounting member 120, Fig. 14, and a wear member 125. The rotors 50, 51, Fig. 4, are driven in opposite directions by shafts 53, 47 in bearings 54, 54<SP>1</SP>. The impact members 55, 67 projecting from their respective rotors 50, 51 are provided at their outer ends with rings 56, 68 received in annular recesses in the other rotor ; the impact members 57 of the rotor 50 terminate in a ring 58 disposed around the rotor 51 and the impact members 65 of the rotor 51 serve also to connect the rotor and shaft 53. As shown in Fig. 3, the rotors are disposed within a casing 35 provided with a central inlet which is fed by a shoot 37 from a bin 38, the rate of feed being controlled by a feeder 40 which extends through a sealed opening at the bottom of the bin. A by-pass 45 serves to relieve air pressure within the casing and vanes 49, which are mounted on the rotor 50 provide a suction at a seal 48 which is disposed around the shaft 47. The wear members 125 of the impact members are provided on the leading faces of the mounting members 120, and these bars may be of semicircular, triangular, square, trapezoidal or angled cross-section, the dimensions of which are such that the wear members have a thickness, measured perpendicular to the leading surface, which is less than half the overall thickness of the wear member and associated mounting member. The radiallyinward surface of the wear members may be arranged to make an angle within the range of 90 to 135 degrees as shown in Fig. 15, and the leading surface within the angles 30 and 15 degrees ; no part of the mounting members extends radially inwardly of the plane containing the radial-inward surface of the wear member. The wear plate 125, Fig. 14, is secured to the trapezoidal-section bar 120 by locking pins 126 and a key 127, and the wear plate 105<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 12, is secured to the angle-section bar 106<SP>1</SP> by stud means 110.
