Abstract

939,458. Seat connections. COSMOTRON INDUSTRIES Ltd. Aug. 1, 1962, No. 29537/62. Class 52 (2). A seating structure 1 for a chair or stool comprises a flexible seat member 1a provided at or adjacent its edges with several flexible moulded thermoplastic clamp members 2 and 9, for anchoring the seat member la. and back support 1b respectively to adjacent parts of the frame structure. Each clamp member has a portion shaped to encircle part of a tubular member 3 or 8 whereby flexure of the seat member la under load is permitted by twisting of the clamp members 2 about the tubular members 3. The clamp member 9 is secured to a tapered boss 13 of the back support 1b by a screw 14 and is slid over the end of a tubular rack member 8. Clamp members 2 comprise a base portion 18 secured to a tapered boss 13 on the seat member 1a and an integral strap portion 19 which embraces the frame member 3 and is secured to the base portion 18. Figs. 5-12 (not shown) illustrate alternative forms of clamp members 2 which are made in separate parts or Fig. 9 (not shown), the clamp member moulded in one piece integral with the seat member 1a.
