Abstract
939,220. Knitted fabrics. M. NEBEL. Jan. 19, 1960 [April 1, 1959], No. 1985/60. Class 74 (2). Some or all parts of a lady's circular knitted stocking are of circular knitted run-resistant fabric of at least two threads, at least the ground thread 8 being of a continuous filament or filaments and being formed into conventional needle loops 10 and sinker loops 11a and at least a thread 9 being knitted into needle loops with the ground thread needle loops and into sinker plush loops 12, which are of a length not exceeding 2.5 times that of the ground thread sinker loops and which appear over ground thread sinker loops on the inside of the finished stocking. Each sinker loop of the thread 9 may be a plush loop, Fig. 2 ; or the thread 9 may form plush loops 12 at alternate sinker wales only, Fig. 3, these plush loops being displaced by one wale from course to course; or courses each containing plush loops over the whole or a part of its length may alternate with one or more courses without plush loops, and those courses or parts thereof not containing plush loops may then be knitted from ground thread only. Both yarns may be of synthetic origin, the ground thread having the greater rate of shrinkage ; or the thread 8 may be of low elasticity and the thread 9 a bulk or stretch yarn.
