Abstract

922,773. Stop motions. ERNEST SCRAGG & SONS Ltd. Sept. 29, 1961 [Dec. 1, 1960], No. 41270/60. Class 120 (2). A stop motion for a textile machine operating on an even number of threads comprises a single finger on which is mounted a pivoted yoke device resting against the threads, the yoke device being so pivoted that breakage of at least one thread causes the finger to operate a yarn stopping or cutting mechanism acting on all the threads. In Fig. 2 the yoke device 12 pivoted on the finger 11 rests on two threads 16, 17 and maintains the finger upright against the influence of its weight. When a thread 16 or 17 breaks, the yoke 12 pivots and allows the finger 11 to fall to actuate a spring-influenced knife 18 of a mechanism which cuts both the threads. The breakage is brought to the attention of the operative by the displacement of the disc 20 mounted on the finger 11. For four threads a tiltable bar is mounted on the finger and two separate yokes are mounted at the ends of this bar. Specifications 842,463 is referred to.
