Abstract

921,117. Balloon-restricting attachments for spinning spindles. T.M.M. (RESEARCH) Ltd. Jan. 11, 1962 [Jan. 13, 1961], No. 1616/61. Class 120 (2). A balloon-restricting attachment for the tip of a ring-spinning &c. spindle, comprises an assembly of members forming outwardly projecting limbs having in themselves or in their mountings sufficient flexibility for them to yield inwardly to allow a package to be doffed. The attachment may consist of wires 16, Fig. 2, shaped and positioned as shown to provide projecting shoulders 161, and secured to a ring 18 on a pin 19 having a threaded end in a tapped hole in the spindle tip the pin having a knob 20 by which it can be rotated to change the extent by which the shoulders project. The yarn passes from a lappet 15 which may be raised intermittently or continuously during the wind and takes a few widely spaced turns around the spindle before passing to the ring. The attachment may alternatively consist of two or more outwardly projecting curved or straight lengths of wire connected to the spindle tip. Specifications 702,618 and 704,037 are referred to.
