A mattress 10 has an air distributing unit in the form of a conduit 11 of ring shape provided with holes 12 increasing in diameter with distance from the conduit entry, the conduit being attached to an air delivery fan 16 situated in advance of an electric heater 17 and powered by motor 15. In modifications the conduit is either straight or U-shaped.
