Abstract
915,432. Valves. GRATZMULLER, J. L. June 10, 1960 [June 11, 1959], No. 20459/60. Class 135. Apparatus for controlling the flow of fluid from a source of high pressure 1 to a receiver of considerably lower pressure 2 comprises a conduit 3, 6 containing a filter 4, a reducing valve 5, a second filter 20 and a restrictor 7. The restrictor 7 has a greater cross-section relative to its length than a capillary tube (i.e. a tube of small cross-section relative to its length such that the flow through it is lamina). The pressure reducing valve has a housing divided into two chambers 8, 9 by a diaphragm 10 which is loaded by a spring 18. The chambers 8, 9 are connected to the down-stream and upstream sides of the restrictor respectively. The diaphragm 10 actuates a valve member 13 and the reducing valve sets an upper limit to the pressure difference across the restrictor which is considerably lower than the pressure drop from the source to the receiver. The second filter 20 interposed between the valve and restrictor does not arrest particles which have passed the first filter but foreign particles which may be present in the valve.
