Abstract

905,169. Mountings for motor vehicle headlamps. CIBIE, P. Dec. 5, 1960 [Dec. 14, 1959], No. 41828/60. Classes 75 (3) and 75 (4). [Also in Group XXV] For mounting the optical unit 1 of a motor vehicle headlamp which is provided with two adjustment screws bearing against the headlamp shell 2 at diagonally opposite corners of a rectangle having two sides vertical, a fixed attachment point for the unit being provided at one of the remaining comers and a spring 11 urging the unit towards the shell at the other, the fixed attachment point is formed by a catch consisting of two tongues 7 which can be pressed together resiliently to pass through a slot in a part 9 attached to the unit, at least one of the tongues having a latching shoulder which engages the part 9. The adjustment screws (not shown) pass through holes 4 in tabs 3 on the unit 1. The unit also has a lug 10 engaging one arm of the spring 11, the other arm being held in a notch 12 on the shell 2. The tongues 7 are formed on a part 5 of resilient material, e.g. plastic or sheet metal, riveted to the shell. One only of the tongues need be shouldered and the slot in the part 9 may be replaced by two side-by-side apertures. The headlamp is adjusted about a vertical axis by turning one of the screws and about a horizontal axis by turning the other.
