Abstract

899,961. Sawing. TURNER, S. G. April 21, 1961 [Feb. 23, 1960], No. 6334/60. Class 145. A sliding work-holder for a saw bench 3 comprises two plates 2 joined by a bar 11 and having flanges 9 for guiding the holder along the bench top, a rod 12 and handle 10 for reciprocating the holder and a pair of levers 25 each loaded by a spring 28 to hold down a log 35 on the plates 2. Stops 17, 18 on the rod 12 limit the movement of the holder and each lever 25 has a rod 30 connected to it so that a stop 34 on the rods contacts an abutment 32 at the end of a return stroke and raises the levers from the log. A pair of log steadies 20 and a mesh screen 14 are provided.
