Abstract

899,531. Winding wire. AVO Ltd. Aug. 8, 1958 [Aug. 8, 1957], No. 24998/57. Class 120(2) [Also in Groups XXXV and XXXVII] In a coil winding machine the spindle and the traverse guide are separately driven under the control of a variable electrical control circuit which operates to regulate the movements of the spindle and the guide to hold them in proper relationship for winding coils with wires of different gauges and in different lays. As shown the spindle 1 carrying takeup former 2 is driven by gearing from motor 10. The traverse guide 3 is reciprocated by the lead screw 5 driven by flexible shaft 11 from reversible type motor 9 controlled by microswitches 14, 15. The wire is kept under tension by passing it round a pulley 8 mounted on spindle 17 extending between movable spring loaded arms 18 controlled by a tensioning solenoid 19 and the spindle 1 operates a counter 16 indicating the number of turns wound. The speeds of motors 9 and 10 are regulated by an electrical control circuit (see Groups XXXV and XXXVII).
