Abstract
Polyvinylene carbonate is prepared by a process characterized in that vinylene carbonate is purified by fractional crystallization until its freezing point is not lower than 21,0 DEG C. and is then polymerized in solution in tertiary butanol in the presence of a free radical catalyst. The preferred catalyst is ethyl azodiisobutyrate. The products may be used in the manufacture of shaped articles such as films.
