896,449. Thermometers. AMERELL, A March 31, 1960 [April 27, 1959], No. 11366/60. Class 97(3). A maximum reading thermometer comprising a liquid reservoir I and capillary tube 3 separated by a relatively narrow passage 7 has the latter formed in an initially separate prefabricated part 2, the passage 7 being of constant crosssection throughout its length. The part 2 may be formed by drawing a long capillary string and cutting off pieces 2-3 mm. in length for fusing between the reservoir 1 and tube 3. The passage 7 may be of flattened cross-section or of polygonal, oval, crescent, or annular form.
