883,727. Transplanting tools. SUTTON, D. R. Sept. 24, 1958, No. 30459/58. Class 6(2). A transplanting tool comprises two jaws 1, 2, which together form a hollow, rectangular pyramid, pivoted on brackets 11 which are urged together by a spring 17 and are pivoted at 13 on a sleeve 14 slidable on the hollow stem 15 of an operating handle 16. A second operating handle 22 is mounted on a sleeve 19 which is also slidable on the stem 15 and is connected to brackets 11 by struts 20. The tool further comprises a plunger 24, comprising a notch 25 for receiving the seedling which is being transplanted, and a stem 23 slidable under the action of spring 26 within the hollow stem 15 of the operating handle 16. The tool may be modified by mounting the jaws directly on the lower ends of the operating handles, one of which is hollow to receive the stem of the plunger, and the handles may either be pivoted to each other, or may be unconnected.
