Abstract

A warhead for use against active armour, has a front activator charge (1) and a rear main hollow charge (2), and an intermediate section which minimises the effect of the detonation pressure of the actuator charge on the main charge. The intermediate section consists of two separate, plastically deformable damping elements (3,4) which minimise back pressure and enable a time delay between detonations to take place. The front damping element (3) consists of a plastic which carries the activator charge, while the rear damping element (4) is a pipe (14) with varying well strength regions (15,16).
