Abstract

881,961. Powder distributers. PRIOR, S. E. Nov. 9, 1959 [Nov. 10, 1958], No. 36020/58. Class 6(1). A method of dispensing granular material by means of a gun 1 is characterised in that a stream of compressed air is caused to issue from the gun whilst the granular material in the form of pellets of weed killer is permitted to enter the stream so that the material is entrained in the stream of air. Apparatus for carrying out the method comprises a gun 1 connected to a source of compressed air and fitted with a member 10 having a branch 11 for connection to a hose which extends to a feed device which is inserted into a bag or container of pellets. Alternatively the pellets may be placed in a hopper having a hose connection to the branch 11 or a canister connected by hose to the branch 11 may be placed on top of a bag or container so as to rest thereon.
