Abstract
889,710. Curving. SPARKBROOK DEVELOPMENTS Ltd. Oct. 20, 1960 [Oct. 3, 1959], No. 33604/59. Class 83 (4). A roll bending machine of the kind in which sheet is bent to an arcuate shape by passing it between three rolls, one roll 13 of which is movable to and from the plane containing the axes of the other two rolls 3 to adjust the radius to which the work 22 is curved, is characterized in that the position of the movable roll 13 is adjusted manually and its position is controlled by the free end of one arm 15 of a bellcrank lever 16 which is pivoted about an axis 17 which is substantially parallel to the plane containing the axes of the other two rolls 3, that arm 15 extending in a direction substantially parallel to that plane, whilst the other arm 18 of the bell-crank lever 16 extends in a direction substantially perpendicular to the plane and is acted on, to adjust the position of the movable roll 13, by a manually controlled screwed shaft 20 which moves the free end of that arm 18 in a direction substantially parallel to the plane. The roll 13 may be supported at one or both ends. The rolls 3 are driven through gearing and belt 7 from an electric motor 6. The roll 13 may also be driven.
