Abstract

A fuel for diesel engines comprises a major proportion of a kerosine-type fuel boiling in the range 160 DEG C. to 310 DEG C. whose sulphur content is less than 0,07%, between 0,5 and 2% by volume of a mineral lubricating oil, between 0,00075 and 0,003% by weight of the total composition, of an anti-corrosion agent and between 0,005 and 0,05% by weight of an oil-soluble alkali or alkaline earth metal salt of a sulphonic or naphthenic acid. Preferred anti-corrosion agents are polyethylene glycol mono-oleate, metal dithiocarbamates and metal dithiophosphates. The sulphonate may be a calcium or barium petroleum or synthetic sulphonate.
