Abstract
887,048. Firelighters. BRYANT, L. W. Nov. 17, 1959 [Nov. 18, 1958], No. 37108/58. Class 50. A combustible product comprises a container 1, preferably box-shaped, in which solid fuel 5 is placed together with a fire-lighting element 2 disposed beneath the solid fuel, at least one aperture 6 being provided in the container so that access may be had to the fire-lighting element and air to support combustion may enter therethrough. Preferably the container has no bottom and the fire-lighting element is fixed within the container, e.g. by use of slats 3 and tacks or pins 4. The container and contents may be given an outer wrapping, e.g. paper or " Cellophane " (Registered Trade Mark), which is removed immediately prior to use. The container may be made of paper, cardboard, waxed card or thin wood and the fire-lighting element may comprise a solid paraffin block or a mixture of naphthalene and sawdust, during the preparation of which the slats 3 are set therein. Coal is specified as a solid fuel.
