Abstract

886,906. Latch spindles; locking. COOKE & SON Ltd., T. J. March 13, 1959 [May 13, 1958], No. 15238/58 Class 44. A lock for use with a door provided with a latch operable by a door handle secured to a spindle of non circular cross-section; comprises a rose with a hole for the spindle and a locking member 3 manually movable between free and locking positions, the locking member 3 being movable in a plane parallel to the principal plane of the door and having a keyhole type slot 5, 6 which in the free position allows the spindle to rotate in a circular, portion 5 of the slot and in the locking position prevents the spindle'from turning. The rose is formed of an inner shell 1 and an outer shell 8 the locking member being situated, between the shells and being actuated 'by a lug 10.
