Abstract
884,293. Switch contacts. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. June 30, 1958 [May 21, 1957], No. 16109/57. Class 38 (5). The pivoted blade contact 1 of a heavycurrent switch engages fixed contacts 2 mounted on parallel arms 4 of a contact carrier 3. The arrangement is such that the electromagnetic force produced on the blade by the current in the sloping sides of contacts 2 assists the closing force. Their initial point of contact with contact 1 is below the level of members 4, to reduce the electromagnetic effect of the current in their outer sides, which opposes contact closure.
