Abstract

871,588. Rotary compressors. GLAMANN, W. Sept. 3, 1958 [Sept. 9, 1957], No. 28337/58. Class 110 (2). A Roots-type rotary compressor has rotary outlet valves 3, 3<SP>1</SP> having working surfaces 9, 91 which roll on the heads and rear edges of the lobes 2, 2<SP>1</SP> so that compression of the working fluid takes place in the compressor chamber. The valves are arranged to open gradually when the pressure in the chamber is equal to that in the delivery pipe. An optionally spring- loaded flap-valve 8 is formed in the wall of the casing and opens when the pressure in the chamber exceeds that in the delivery pipe 19. The valves may be balanced by discs 42 (Figs. 3a, 3b, not shown).
