[Also in Group XXV] In a telephone support comprising a standard 1 (Fig. 1) on which a telephone hand instrument 13 can be detachably mounted the standard is of flexible rod of substantial stiffness so that it will retain any shape to which it may be bent and is clamped to a desk or table by means of a clamp 2 and screw 3, the standard being pivotally connected to the clamp 2 so that it can be swung between positions in which it is respectively ready for use above the desk or like surface and below the said surface and detent means 7 (Fig. 2) being provided for temporarily holding the pivoted standard in selected positions. The standard 1 is secured to a collar 5 held by a screw 6 to a clamp 2 and a spring detent ball 7 in a bore of the clamp 2 engages in one of several recesses formed in the collar 5. Alternatively, as shown in Fig. 11 a spring loaded pin 27 is adapted to engage grooves 26 (Fig. 13) in the collar 5. The means for detachably mounting the telephone hand instrument may comprise a spring grip 30 (Fig. 9) into which the instrument can be inserted. The grip 30 is secured to a rigid strip 32 adapted to be removably inserted and gripped in a slotted block 25 of resilient material mounted at the upper end of the standard 1. Alternatively, as shown in Figs. 1 and 4 two curved arms 16 may be sprung on to or be permanently clamped around the instrument 13, the arms being formed with an aperture 18 fitting on to a pin 15 upstanding from the standard 1.
