Abstract

875,689. Handles for travel bags &c. CHENEY & SON Ltd., C. W., TOMKINSON, F. M., CHENEY, H. W., and SHERWOOD, G. M. Dec. 7, 1959 [Oct. 8, 1958], No. 32042/58. Class 133. A flexible handle 7 for a portable article 12 has longitudinally slotted ends 10 which are housed and relatively slidable in hollow guides 11, and a clamping plate 16 is housed in each guide and a tube 21 formed integral with the clamping plate projects towards the front of the guide and engages the slotted end 10, limiting the movement of the handle in the arched position. A screw 23 secures the clamping plate and the slide guide to the article. In a modification, Figs. 7-10 (not shown), the screw is replaced by prongs on the clamping plate which penetrate the article and are clinched down.
