Abstract
861,685. Anchor-bolts &c. BAYLISS, JONES & BAYLISS Ltd. July 29, 1959 [July 29, 1958], No. 24330/58. Addition to 825,003. Class 89(1). An anchor-bolt for mine-roofs &c. and intended to be removable for re-use, comprises a tube 10, Fig. 1, having hinged thereto at one end expandable-shells 15, and secured thereto at the other end, a bearing-plate 20, a rod 11 movable - axially within the tube to engage wedge-surfaces 19 on the shells and move them apart to engage the walls of a bore-hole. To remove the bolt, a chain &c. fixed to the end 23 of rod 11 is pulled until a cross-pin 25 on the rod abuts the plate 20. The shells can now pivot towards each other as the bolt is drawn from the hole. In a modification, rod 11, Fig. 4, has screw-threads 27 engaging, a nut 29 fixed to plate 28, and extends through a spacing-sleeve 30 to engage, and be fixed to, a nut 31 on a handle 32 for turning rod 11 to expand or permit contraction of the shells,
