[Also in Groups XI and XVII] Liquid-filled sachets of heat-sealable material have the opposed walls welded together at 3, 31 to divide the interior into two chambers 2, 4 of different sizes communicating through a restricted aperture or apertures 5. The sachet is filled through the bottom and sealed, and the size of the aperture 5 is such that the liquid does not normally enter the smaller compartment 2. When opened by cutting along the line 1-1<SP>1</SP> the liquid is not released but may be forced out by pressure on the chamber 4. The sachets may be made by cross-sealing a liquidfilled tube by a high-frequency welding electrode comprising main welding members 11, 12, Fig. 7, forming the seal, and interrupted welding parts 13 spaced slightly from-the main welding members to form the restricted apertures. Fig. 4 shows an alternative form of tubing the walls of which are welded together near one side at spaced intervals 9 during extrusion of the tubing and before the tube material has solidified, as by rotating clamping members. The tubing is then filled with liquid, which does not penetrate to the space 2, and cross-welded to form the sachets.
