Abstract

853,956. Spray-producers. HUDSONMANUFACTURING CO., H. D. Feb. 21, 1958 [Feb. 21, 1957], No. 5740/58. Class 69 (3). An air pump 10 is attached to a liquid reservoir 18 from which a supply tube 25 extends to the interior of a nozzle 32 which is longitudinally adjustable in a nozzle holder 37 fixed to a cap 23. The tube 25 is closed at its outer end and has liquid outlets 31 in its wall, and includes a spider 34 which abuts the end 36 of the holder. A spring 38 between the spider and a shoulder in the nozzle urges the latter forwardly, and in its most forward position a pin 46 in the nozzle engages one end of a curved slot in the holder. In operation, air is forced into the reservoir through opening 19, and the liquid flowing into the nozzle from the outlets 31 is met by air forced about the tube and through the nozzle causing spray to issue from the outlet 43. By moving the pin 46 along its slot the nozzle is moved rearwardly to vary the spray produced, or it can be moved to an extreme inner position in which the end of the supply tube engages a sealing ring 51 to cut off the flow.
