Abstract
856,797. X-ray apparatus. SIEMENSREINIGER-WERKE A. G. July 22,1959 [July 30, 1958], No. 25167/59. Class 98(1) An X-ray apparatus has an image intensifier 6 and a television camera 5 arranged with their optical axes mutually perpendicular, the image being reflected from the intensifier into the camera by a mirror, the X-ray tube 10 itself being carried by an arm 9 so angled that a patient may be disposed between X-ray tube and intensifier. The components are carried by a slide 4 which is movable vertically, and also rotatably, on a column 3. The television camera 5 is fixed to the slide 4 so that its axis is always horizontal. The intensifier 6 is mounted at right-angles to the camera, and can rotate about the optical axis of the latter. The intensifier is secured to a counterbalancing support 7. Mounted on a pin 8 coaxial with the camera axis is an arm 9 carrying the X-ray tube 10. The arm 9 is angled as shown in Fig. 3 so that it is clear of the patient under examination, who lies on a couch 13. The support 7 is coupled to the arm 9 by a rod 12, so that they rotate together, with the X-ray tube and intensifier remaining in alignment in all positions. In the position of Fig. 3, the X-ray beam traverses horizontally. By rotating the whole unit 10, 9, 12, 7, 6 through 90 degrees about the pin 8, then lowering the whole unit by moving slide 4 down the column and then rotating the slide, the position of Fig. 4 (not shown) is reached, in which the beam traverses vertically. The provision of the television camera enables the X-ray image to be displayed at any desired position in the examination room, or even outside it.
