840,852. Combine-harvesters. AGROSTROJ PROSTEJOV, NARODNI PODNIK, VRANA, V., GADOREK, L., FILOUS, F., and NOR, Z. Aug. 24, 1956 [Aug. 27, 1955(2)], No. 25983/56. Class 6(3). In a combine-harvester wherein the position of various parts such as the reel and the platform are controlled hydraulically, a single pump delivers fluid to a slide-valve which controls the platform-raising mechanism directly and through which the fluid flows freely to slide-valves controlling the other mechanisms the arrangement being that when the platform is being raised the fluid-flow to the other mechanisms is interrupted. Pivoted on the sides of the platform are dividers 3 connected by rods 4 and turnbuckles 5 to slotted links 6 slidable in a bracket 8 and biased rearwardly by springs 10. A pin 12 carried by a lever 13 is received in slots 11 in the links 6, the other end of the lever actuating a slide-valve 17. The valve 17 has an inlet 18 and an outlet 26 leading to a distributor 20 feeding the slide-valves 21, 22, 23 for the other mechanisms. The valve 17 also has an outlet 27 leading to the lifting cylinder of the platform and an outlet 28 leading to a fluid reservoir. When the slide 16 is in the position shown the outlet 27 is blocked and the fluid flows freely through the outlet 26 to the slide-valves 21, 22, 23. When the slide is moved to the left, the passage 26 is closed and oil flows into a hollow space 29, within the slide, through a port 30. Sufficient increase of pressure in the space 29 causes a spring-urged valve 32 to open, thus allowing oil to escape through the outlet 27 and thereby lift the platform. Once the platform has risen the slide moves to the right thereby opening the circuit 18-26 and closing the outlet 27. Further movement of the slide 16 to the right enables the fluid from the platform-lifting mechanism to return through the outlet 27, the space 29 and valve 32 to the outlet 28, thus lowering the platform. The slide 16 is moved by the dividers 3 through the lever 13, the slot 11 permitting some lost-motion.
