Abstract

849,723. Luggage racks for vehicles. DEANS & SON (YORKSHIRE) Ltd. June 24, 1959, No. 21588/59. Class 103(2). A luggage rack comprises a. framework 15, 16, 17, Fig. 8, and a plurality of anchoring members 21 for a twine or wire lattice network 20, the members 21 being engaged in the framework and slidable therealong. As shown in Fig. 7, the tubular longitudinal members 15 are each formed with a re-entrant portion 18 having an opening formed by a slot 19, the portions 18 being closed at the ends by plugs 17 bored to receive transverse rods 16. The anchoring members 21 in the form of collars crimped on to the lattice network 20 are slidable in the portions 18 and the rods 16 are threaded through the transverse edge regions of the network. In another embodiment the framework is in the form of a continuous tube slotted around its inner periphery and the anchoring members are hooks with shanks slidable in the slot and having shoulder portions which prevent the hooks being pulled out of the slot as described with reference to Figs. 1 to 5 (not shown).
