Abstract

The invention comprises 1, 2 chromium complexes of dyes of formula: <FORM:0849705/IV (c)/1> where R is the residue of 4-nitro- or a 4- halo-or -alkyl-, 6-nitro -4- alkyl- or -halo -4, 6-dihalo-, 6-alkyl- or -halo-4-nitro-2-aminophenol or an O-alkyl ether or ester thereof, R1 is a sulphonamide group which may be alkyl substituted and Z is a substituent other than SO3H or COOH. The complexes are formed in substance, or on the fibre, by conventional processes from the metalfree dyes which are themselves prepared by usual methods. Alkyl and halogen groups are indicated for Z, specified pyrazolones from which the dyes are derived including 1-(21-methyl -61-chloro -41- sulphamido and -methylsulphamido)-and -(21, 61-dimethyl -31- and 41-sulphamido)-phenyl -3- methyl -5- pyrazolones. Wool and similar materials such as silk, leather, polyamides and polyurethanes, preferably dyed from neutral to organic acid baths, are dyed in bluish red shades.
