Abstract
815,574. Cables. SUMITOMO ELECTRIC INDUSTRIES Ltd. March 26, 1956 [March 29, 1955; March 30, 1955 (2)], No. 9395/56. Drawings to Specification. Class 36. A conductor is insulated with a covering consisting of upper and lower tapes comprising paper and a plastic material which is applied so as to leave an air gap between the conductor and the covering, the tapes being sealed together at a distance from the conductor of several times the tape thickness. The covering is preferably applied to the conductor by the longitudinal method. The tapes may be of paper impregnated or coated on the inner side with a thermoplastic material such as rubber, polythene or vinylidene chloride. In the latter case they may also be coated on the outer side, with a thermosetting or thermoplastic material such as rubber, polythene or a melamine resin. A number of such conductors may be assembled together to form a communication cable. Specification 815,573 is referred to.
