Abstract
A fluxed pitch, obtained by blending with a fluxing oil in which either one or both is treated at elevated temperatures to remove fume-generating volatiles, also contains an organic thermoplastic resin, a natural or synthetic rubber, or a coal extract. The resin, rubber, or coal may be present during or after the elevated temperature treatment. Specified resins are polyvinyl chloride, or acetate, polystyrene, and polymethyl methacrylate. Undissolved coal matter, when a coal extract is used, can remain and acts as a filler.
