Abstract
792,800. Filters. ZWICKY, J. F. June 15, 1955 [June 24, 1954 ; July 19, 1954], Nos. 18518/54 and 20958/54. Class 46. [Also in Group XXVIII] A liquid filter comprises a plurality of open topped, closed-bottomed inward flow tubes 4 having a wall thickness not exceeding one tenth of an inch and capable of retaining particles of 10 microns and less suspended from an apertured plate 3 within a filter body 1 having inlet and outlet ports 8, 16. The tubes 4 are of a porous thermoplastic material and a reverse flow of cleaning liquid is provided by passing liquid undergoing filtration from a duct 13 through a 3-way cock 11. a filter 2 similar to the filter 1, a 3-way cock 18 and the port 16 ; scavenging liquid being discharged through a 3-way cock 10 and a drain 14. The space between the tubes 4 may be charged with activated charcoal or an ion exchange resin. Specifications 565,022 [Group IV] and 718,621 [Group XXVIII] are referred to.
