[Also in Group XIV] A covering material 2, particularly for the backs of vehicle seats, has downwardly over lapping pleats or scales 1 attached thereto. As shown in Fig. 4, smooth surfaced scales with a backing 5 of spongy material may be used. The smooth surface may be a fabric or foil and may be varied to give ornamental effects. The surface produced is stated to provide ventilation between the occupant's back and the back of the seat and to prevent rucking of garments in contact therewith.
