782,689. Rectilinear-motion bearings. SHORT, R. P. J. Nov. 4, 1955 [Nov. 4, 1954], No. 32007/54. Class 12 (1). A carrier 17, on which a machine tool is adapted to be mounted, is guided with respect to a supporting structure 11, comprising two beams 12, 13 of I-section, by six pairs of rollers 22, 30, 33 and 39. The carrier 17 comprises side plates 18, 19 rigidly secured together by a rod 20, and two rollers 22 mounted in each side plate support the carrier on the upper flanges 26 of the beams 12, 13. Rollers 30, mounted on spring-urged arms 27 which are pivotally attached to the side plates 21, bear against the .undersides of the top flanges 26. Lateral guidance is effected by rollers 33 mounted in brackets 31 attached to the side plate 18 and bearing against a vertical planar surface 16 on the edge of the top flange 26 of the beam 12. On the opposite side, rollers 39 mounted in spring-pressed arms 36 bear against the edge of the top flange 26 of the beam 13,
