Abstract
780,413. Aircraft undercarriages. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. Aug. 5, 1955 [Aug. 6, 1954], No.12984/56. Divided out of 779,556. Class 4. An aircraft undercarriage comprising a leg 1 supporting a collapsible landing skid 4, which during landing has its three sections 3, 4, 5 aligned, and a jettisonable bogie (not shown) for take-off has braking sprags 23 pivoted at 25 to the skid 4 for operation by jacks 24. The bogie carries normal wheel brakes operated by a brake cylinder which has a lever and linkage connection with the sprag 23 so that operation by the pilot of the same cockpit controls effects braking by the sprags when the bogie is jettisoned and by the wheel brakes when the bogie is fitted to the undercarriage.
