Abstract
788,704. Steam superheaters. HUET, A. May 10, 1956, No. 14638/56. Class 123(3) A steam superheater or reheater comprising rows of vertically suspended U- tubes a is provided with draining means consisting of small bore tubes b each connected to respective bottom bends of the tube loops, all the tubes b of one row of U-tubes being connected to a common collector tube c provided with a drain d. The tubes b, c which are disposed outside of the heating gas flow also serve to crossbrace the U-tubes a and hold them at their correct spacing. Fig. 2 shows a superheat temperature regulating arrangement wherein a quantity of cool steam is withdrawn from the superheater inlet header e through a by-pass pipe i and injected through pipes j, k, each controlled by a valve n into either or both of the collector tubes l, m, to attemperate the steam flowing through the superheater. When required,' water may be injected into the by-pass i from a pipe p controlled by a valve o, the valves o, n, being set manually or automatically in dependence on the steam temperature in the superheater outlet header f.
