Abstract

785,634. Railway vehicle undercarriages. MASCHINENFABRIK AUGSBURGNURNBERG AKT.-GES. Dec. 6, 1955 [Dec. 17, 1954], No. 34927/55. Class 103(6) A rail vehicle body and. a bogie are connected so that, as regards the transmission of longitudinal force, the bogie can pivot approximately at the level of the axle shaft centres and as regards the transmission of transverse force, the bogie can pivot as near as possible to the level of the centre of gravity of the vehicle. As shown, the vehicle body 1 is supported through helical springs 3 and driving plates 4 on the sides of the bogie frame 5 and the bogie frame is supported by springs 7 on axle bushes 6. The sets of wheels 8, 9 are guided by bars 10. The bogie frame has a restoring device 11 comprising a housing 12 containing a helical spring 15 initially stressed between two spring plates 13, 14 against which members 16, 17 with ball-shaped ends bear, the other ends of these members bearing against concave parts of brackets 20, 21 on the vehicle body. The restoring device is brought as close as possible to the horizontal plane a passing through the centre of gravity S of the vehicle. The pivoting of the bogie as regards longitudinal forces, e.g. braking, is effected through a bar 22 provided with bifurcated ends engaging pins 23, 24. The pin 23 is supported on a sleeve 25 adapted to rock about a vertical pin 26 supported in the bogie frame. The pin 24 is guided on a sleeve 27 adapted to rock about a vertical pin 28 held on a bracket 29 of the vehicle body.
