Abstract

772,959. Hoists. KING, Ltd., G. W. June 22, 1955 [June 22, 1954], No. 18223/54. Class 78 (5). A rope feed control device for application to a power-operated hoist, comprises means 20, 23 movable in dependence upon the tension of the rope A, and a member 30 adapted on movement of said means resultant upon slackening of the tension in said rope to effect actuation of a switch 26 thereby to cut off the drive to the hoist or the like. As shown, hoist rope A is threaded between sheaves 20, 23, 25 carried by linkage 21, 22 so that, if the rope slackens, the consequent movement of the linkage causes counterbalance arm 15 to pivot about 14 so that abutment 30 operates switch 26 to cut off the drive to the hoist. Similarly, the apparatus acts as an upper end-stop, an abutment on rope A contacting and lifting arm 15 so that abutment 31 operates switch 27 to cut off the hoist motor.
