Abstract

776,905. Well pumps. ZEPHYR LAUNDRY MACHINERY CO. June 15, 1955, No. 17246/55. Class 102 (1) [Also in Group XXIX] A, well pump hydraulic drive mechanism com prises a cylindei 16 having a pistor 19 connected to the well rods 12 mounted on a tripod support 49 on a base horizontally adjustably mounted on a frame 10 carrying a hydraulic pump 45 and drive motor 37 and a supply tank 23. Additional rods 81 are provided to guide the piston rod 20 which carries an actuating bar 85 for operating a pilot valve 86 at each end of the piston stroke. Referring to Fig. 6 the valve 86 controls the position of a two-way valve 100 which connects a line 120 to a return line 71 through one or other of flow restricting valves 123, 130, which control the velocity of the piston 19 in the up and down direction respectively, the piston being moved down by the weight of the associated rods. The line 120 is connected at one end through a non-return valve 111 to the pump outlet and at the other through a non-return valve 125 in parallel with a deceleration throttle 135, to the underside of the piston 19. The throttle 135 is closed towards the end of the down stroke by means of a cam device 69 carried by the rod 12. A switch 146 in the motor circuit is held closed by a cam surface on the valve 86 when the piston is rising so that the motor cannot stop until the switch 146 is released when the valve 86 is changed over to cause the piston to descend.
